The CAB can help and advise you on a wide range of issues :
We can advise on EMPLOYMENT matters such as job applications, contracts, unfair dismissal, redundancy and sick pay, even tribunals.
We can advise on which BENEFITS may be available to you and make calculations on your behalf; we can advise on tax and pension credits and on benefits agency decisions.
We can help with HOUSING problems such as eviction, repairs and neighbours; we can advise on house purchase and mortgage repayments; we can explain how the care system works.
If MONEY MANAGEMENT is your concern, we can help with budgeting and advice on debt, bankruptcy and dealing with creditors; we can advise on Council Tax matters such as arrears and whether you might be exempt.
On CONSUMER ISSUES, we can advise on your rights and responsibilities as a consumer, on buying from catalogues and what to do if goods are damaged or unfit for purpose.
And MUCH MORE!
All our friendly CAB advisers are fully trained to give you the confidential advice and help you need. They will not judge you, they will LISTEN to you and no problem is too small - or too big! If necessary, they can help you with forms, letters, telephone calls, negotiations; they can even represent you at some types of hearings. And all their services are free!

BEING A VOLUNTEER ADVISER FOR CAB
Roxburgh and Berwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau is always keen to hear from interested people who might like to become local volunteer CAB advisers.
If you enjoy helping people, if you are a good listener, if you are open minded, if you have good communication skills and if you are prepared to give between 4 and 6 hours each week . . . . . then we would love to hear from you! You will be welcomed into a great team and receive high quality, step-by-step training on a whole range of subjects with lots of help and support all the way from experienced CAB staff.
You will find yourself interviewing clients, explaining what choices they have (you will have access to the CAB's electronic information system), making calculations on their behalf and, if necessary, helping them with forms, letters and telephone calls. You will keep confidential records of your clients' cases. And you will be developing your own skills all the time!
Helping others in your local community is extremely rewarding work and you will feel that you are making a real difference in other people's lives.
